I've recently discovered the world of custom-designed party decorations, and it's been quite a fascinating journey. What's interesting is that I've been creating and decorating my children's party supplies for years without fully realizing it. It dawned on me that I've unintentionally been enhancing my skills by delving into graphic design and crafting my own unique designs.
In November, my daughter wanted a My Melody-themed Squishmallow from Sanrio. Surprisingly, I couldn't find any Squishmallow with My Melody; all I could find was Hello Kitty. Determined to fulfill her wish, I took matters into my own hands and decided to draw a Squishmallow version of My Melody on my iPad.
Invitation
I began by creating my daughter's birthday invitation to match her chosen theme and her favorite color. I made the design cute and subtle to reflect her personality, incorporating colors that complemented her favorite shade. To enhance the overall look, I added some adorable details that perfectly matched my daughter's bubbly personality.
For my daughter's last birthday, I made a cool animated digital invitation. However, this time around, I wanted to send out physical cards to make her friends feel special and happy when receiving an invite. I edited the invitation using my premium Canva account, where I usually work on all my graphic designs. Canva helps me with measurements and alignments, and I can choose the file type I want. I always make sure my designs are unique and original to avoid any copyright issues.
Juice Box
Planning a party can be time-consuming and a bit of a hassle. I didn't want the added stress of finding decorations that matched the theme, so I opted to make my own custom juice box wraps.
In my quest to create a one-of-a-kind juice box, I delved into the depths of online tutorials and YouTube videos, hoping to uncover the precise measurements needed for the perfect beverage container. The standard juice box size is commonly accepted as 200 ml or around 6 oz, but I felt the urge to break away from the conventional sizing often seen in the US market.
Determined to inject a personal touch into my project, I opted to deviate from the dimensions demonstrated in YouTube tutorials. Instead, I embraced the freedom to make adjustments, using the user-friendly Canva app to meticulously tweak the sizing and rearrange graphics, bringing my unique vision to life.
My initial attempts revealed that adhering strictly to the standard US juice box dimensions didn't align with my creative vision. With an experimental spirit, I made thoughtful adjustments, crafting a juice box that resonated more with my preferences. The process allowed me to explore new dimensions in design and discover the joy of thinking outside the box—quite literally.
A highlight of my DIY adventure was stumbling upon a graphic design for nutrition facts with an enchanting birthday theme. This discovery added a delightful and festive touch to my creation, elevating its appeal and making it suitable for various occasions.
